White Mount Fuji and Shining Trees
Mount Fuji is still in the midst of winter. Meanwhile, spring came around Mount Fuji, so you can enjoy the wonderful contrast of winter and spring.
Around Mt. Fuji, after the cherry blossoms have fallen, the flowers of Moss Phlox will begin to bloom from the middle of April.
On the south side of Mt. Fuji, there are many tea plantations. In these fields, the fresh greens are very beautiful in spring.
Mountainous area of Honshu
In the mountainous region of Honshu, you can now enjoy the wonderful contrast between winter and spring. The above photo was taken at Hakuba Village in Nagano Prefecture.
In Hakuba, high mountains around 3000 meters above sea level are connected. In these mountains, many tourists enjoy skiing and snowboarding in the winter.
Even near such alpine areas, spring is approaching little by little.
The spring is approaching even Shirakawago (Gifu Prefecture), which is famous for its beautiful traditional village and heavy snowfall. I love the scenery of spring Shirakawago.
Even in Oze (Gunma Prefecture), which is famous as an amazing hiking spot, the snow begins to melt. White skunk cabbage flowers begin to bloom in the wetland after the snow melts.
The contrast between the cute skunk cabbage flowers and the surrounding white mountains is great!
Tohoku region in Honshu
In the Tohoku region (north of Honshu Island), there is a lot of snow in winter.
There are still lots of snow in the mountains. But spring is definitely approaching.
There is a gentle ranch around Mount Iwaki, which you can see in the photo above. The scenery there is also wonderful.
Cherry blossoms have begun to bloom even in Miyagi Prefecture, which was heavily damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred in March 2011.
In mid-April, you can also enjoy the contrast between winter and spring here, as you can see in the photo above.
You can enjoy the snow scene in spring!
Spring has come to the plains, but in the mountains, a long winter continues.
The above photo was taken at Tateyama, located in Toyama Prefecture on Honshu Island.
In Tateyama, which is a high mountain area representing Japan, you can take a bus and tour “Snow Wall” from April 15th, as you can see in the photo above. There are places where you can play in the snow.
Tateyama is very cold, so please prepare your winter clothes!
