In Japan, torii gates are often built in places with a sacred atmosphere. Oarai-Isosaki Jinja Shrine, which is about 3 hours away by train and bus from Tokyo, is famous as a shrine with a torii gate in a wonderful location. This shrine is in front of the sea. And “Kamiiso no Torii Gate” is built on the reef called “Kamiiso”. According to legend, the gods descended to 856 on this reef. This torii is holy, especially at sunrise.
