If you want to enjoy calm and old-fashioned Japan, I recommend traveling in San’in (山陰). San-in is an area on the Sea of Japan side of western Honshu. Especially Matsue and Izumo in Shimane Prefecture are wonderful. Now let’s start a virtual trip to San’in!
