It has long been said that the three most beautiful Japanese gardens are Korakuen in Okayama, Kenrokuen in Kanazawa, and Kairakuen in Mito. Korakuen, located in the western part of Honshu, was built in 1700 by the feudal lord (daimyo) of the Okayama clan at that time. If you go to the vast garden with Okayama Castle in the background, you will feel the life and culture of the daimyo of the Edo period.
